Is it possible to embed Github login credentials into a URL?

Due to the ROMAC Github repositories being "private", I found that when I create a link to a file hosted on Github a 404 error page will be displayed unless I am already logged into an account that has access to that file. This will cause problems with my site visitors trying to access these files unless we can find a way around it. Is it possible to have the link force them to login to Github before proceeding to the file location?
