last night I have installed fedora release 20. but I am not able to playback any videos. 昨晚我安装了fedora版本20，但无法播放任何视频。 If I play a video file in, say VLC. 如果我播放视频文件，请说VLC。 the audio is alright. 音频没问题。 only the video is not being played. 仅视频未播放。

turn off the selinux, then try again. 关闭selinux，然后重试。 selinux blocked the plugin. selinux阻止了该插件。

I had the same problem. 我有同样的问题。

It was solved by changing the Output under "video settings" in preferences of VLC to "X11" from "Automatic".. Save and restart VLC. 通过将VLC的“视频设置”下的“输出”从“自动”更改为“ X11”来解决此问题。保存并重新启动VLC。

Seems obvious but the reason it takes so long to find this problem is because typically when VLC is installed the problem doesn't exist! 似乎很明显，但是花很长时间才能找到此问题的原因是，通常在安装VLC时，该问题就不存在了！ The problem seems to appear some time later with some update of sorts so since no preferences have been changed by the user, there seems no sense checking there. 该问题似乎在一段时间后出现了一些更新，因此由于用户未更改首选项，因此似乎没有任何检查的余地。
