I have one issue with my app, When receive alert local notification the sound not playing in iPhone 4s (iOS 7)(phone is locked) but work in iPod(ios 6.1.6) and iPhone 5(iOS 8) . i use the following code..

     [localNotification setSoundName:UILocalNotificationDefaultSoundName]

If your notification works well in other iOS devices, then it should also works in 4S.

Notification sound will not differ depends on the device or OS version. So problem lies in the device settings.

Make sure you enabled the notification sounds in the device settings
