I'm running Eclipse Mars.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 on gtk2 (because it was freezing on gtk3).

You can't change the package explorer color alone. 您不能仅更改Package Explorer的颜色。 But you can try different themes which are available in eclipse. 但是您可以尝试在Eclipse中可用的不同主题。
- Open eclipse preferences 日食偏好设置
- General -> Appearance -> Theme 常规->外观->主题
