How can I remove the [ that is placed before my commands after they are entered (eg the top two lines in the picture).

As per chepner , they are part of the terminal not zsh.根据chepner ，它们是终端的一部分而不是 zsh。
The way to remove them is:去除它们的方法是：
Choose Edit > Marks > Automatically Mark Prompt Lines.选择“编辑”>“标记”>“自动标记提示行”。 The tick lets you know whether the option is enabled.勾号让您知道该选项是否已启用。
