I'm wondering which is the best way to communicate between a Service and an activity..

I've been running into pretty much the same problem. 我遇到了几乎相同的问题。 Take a look at my question , answers turned out extremely useful for me. 看我的问题 ，答案对我来说非常有用。
In fact I haven't directly used a service in the end but switched to the AlarmManager. 实际上，我最终并没有直接使用服务，而是切换到了AlarmManager。 Worked out as I initially wanted it to be. 按照我最初希望的那样进行锻炼。 Good luck 祝好运
