This has been driving me crazy and I have searched the web but cannot find an answer.

I expect you are talking of the display size. 我希望您正在谈论显示器的尺寸。
When in xCode look for the Overview dropdown on the left upper side of the window and change from "iPad Simulator 3.2" to "iPhone Simulator 4.0". 当使用xCode时，请在窗口的左上角查找“概述”下拉列表，然后从“ iPad Simulator 3.2”更改为“ iPhone Simulator 4.0”。
