PHPMyAdmin无法连接到MySQL

我在Linux操作系统的本地计算机上安装了lampp服务器，但是在打开phpmyadmin时却出现错误。

#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

check if MySQL is running with this command

mysqladmin -u root -p status

if it is running it will ask for your password otherwise it will spit out an error
