I have recently started using VirtualBox to get my Linux environment rather than fully using Ubuntu. 我最近开始使用VirtualBox来获取我的Linux环境，而不是完全使用Ubuntu。 For me this works well. 对我来说这很有效。 But recently i have realized that in the Ubuntu vm the only thing I use a lot is the terminal, mostly just because I need the Linux environment and not the full desktop. 但最近我意识到在Ubuntu vm中我唯一使用的是终端，主要是因为我需要Linux环境而不是完整的桌面。

You didn't mention the versions of Ubuntu and Virtualbox. 你没有提到Ubuntu和Virtualbox的版本。

I failed twice to install full Ubuntu 10.10 over the latest VirtualBox 4.0.4 over Ubuntu (problems like those you describe), so I switched to Debian 6.0. 我没有两次在最新的VirtualBox 4.0.4上安装完整的Ubuntu 10.10而不是Ubuntu（问题就像你描述的那样），所以我切换到了Debian 6.0。
