Question

I'd like to trigger the phone call on mobile devices. How do I do such that the call to phone action only happens on mobile devices, but on desktop it only shows text? Currently, it tries to open Skype on desktop and tablets and I don't want that to happen. On desktops and tablets I just want it to show the phone number as text.

I found this Detecting a mobile browser where someone wrote a pretty comprehensive script to detect if the webpage is being opened on a mobile device. I tried to integrate it but it's not working. It's just shows the text on desktop and mobile.

You are checking if the function is equal to true, you have to execute it first and test the result, with if (window.mobileAndTabletcheck() == true) , notice the parentheses after the function name.

A quick explanation is

function a() { return 3; }

a will be the function, which is literally function() { return 3; } function() { return 3; }

a() will equal 3.

A simple alternative without the need for regex, is you can look for a touch event, since only phones + tablets would have that.

FYI: the mobileAndTabletcheck function is for Mobile.. and Tablet.. in your description you want only phone. You could use media Queries and a div to detect if its a mobile or not. Better than using a large JS to detect it each time. Just getting states of a div and WIN. ( tuto with media Queries )
