Today I found Songkick.com which offers the possibility to scan your iTunes library, how do they do it?

Songkick loads a java applet in web browser that has read-only access to file system. Songkick在具有对文件系统的只读访问权限的Web浏览器中加载一个Java applet。 It refers to iTunes library file, for example on mac at /Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml to read all the tracks and their metadata. 它引用iTunes库文件，例如在Mac上的/Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml中读取所有曲目及其元数据。
Since iTunes doesn't work as a web service, it would not have an API. 由于iTunes不能作为网络服务使用，因此它没有API。
