insert excel data into database in codeigniter

Question

i need to insert the excel sheet data into my database using codeigniter.For this i have tried

Through this i can retrieve excel data and print it. how to store in database one by one as row.

this suggestion may a little outside the scope of the question, but can you consider exporting the excel file to a .csv and then importing using the mysql import the file?
