Can send email from mail client/ unix account but not PHP

Question

I am using postfix and dovecot on unix. I can send email from mail client as well as unix account (through the 'mail' command) but cannot send email through PHP. No errors or warnings are shown either in mail.err, mail.log, and syslog in case 1. Your advice is highly appreciated. Inclindg main.cf, master.cf, and dns records. Replacing the real domain name with FQDN.com Here is the main.cf:

I made the following two changes and it works now:

• In my config.php, I replaced smtp.mydomain.com with localhost (did I need to make any other changes in my DNS other than seting smtp.mydomain.com in my A records?)
• commented out the 'IsSmtp' line in phpMailer to fix an authentication problem.
