How to change target platform to Windows Phone 8.0 in Visual Studio 2015 RC

When creating a new project (C# -> Windows 8 -> Windows Phone) the target platform is automatically set to Windows Phone 8.1.

How can I change it to Windows Phone 8.0? In the preferences there is not option to do so, nor when creating the project.

It is not possible because you created a Windows Phone 8.1 XAML app. You need to create a Windows Phone 8 Silverlight app (C# -> Windows 8 -> Windows Phone -> Blank App (Windows Phone Silverlight)).
