Android Toolbar doesn't hide a title

Question

I can't hide a title in my Toolbar that I set as ActionBar . Here my activity style:

Here a code is in the onCreate method:

ActionBar actionBar = getSupportActionBar();

if (actionBar != null) {
    actionBar.setDisplayShowTitleEnabled(false); // Try to hide a title
    actionBar.setDisplayHomeAsUpEnabled(true);
    actionBar.setHomeAsUpIndicator(VectorDrawable
       .getDrawable(this, R.drawable.ic_close_white_24dp));
}

But it doesn't work, a title still shows.
Where can a problem be?

This is my debug screen:
As you can see my ActionBar is not null.

As you are using toolbar you can use:

Toolbar toolbar = (Toolbar) findViewById(R.id.toolbar);
setSupportActionBar(toolbar);
getSupportActionBar().setTitle("");
