d3js set X axis tick position

I am create a bar chart with help of bl.ocks.org/Caged/6476579 example . but the problem is if only one record present in csv then bar width takes full svg width ,please see image

Full width bar

Then I think to give a fix width to bar ,I add .attr("width", d3.min([x1.rangeBand(), 100]))

after adding this bar width reduced ,but x axis tick position displaced

Tick displaced

how to place the tick ?

If you do this:

.attr("width", d3.min([x1.rangeBand(), 100]))

You may end up having a bar with 100px of width. However, this does not change the axis.

The axis generator generates the axis based on the scale . Thus, whatever changes you want, do them in the scale.

For instance, this makes the range smaller (one fourth of the total width) and increases the padding:

var x = d3.scale.ordinal()
    .rangeRoundBands([0, width/4], .5);
