`npm install` not working. Unhandled rejection Error: EISDIR: illegal operation on a directory

Question

I am developing an ionic 3 app. I developed it on windows 10 and everything was fine. But now I shift my work windows to mac . Now problem is when i run npm install command on mac, then it's not working. It shows Unhandled rejection Error . Full errors are given below.

Did you copy .npm from windows to macOS? Maybe you can try to remove the problematic directory and then run npm install again. Something like

$ rm -rf /Users/softograph/.npm/

OR it might be permission problem. You actually should never use sudo with npm . I suggest you try to use nvm (node version manager) and it will install node and npm for you. With nvm, you will never need sudo .
