LeafletJS, How to delete marker with button in bind popup

Question

I'm making a web application using a leaflet map and I want the users to be able to put and remove markers as they wish but I can't figure out a way to do it.

The markers coordinates are stored in a database and when I load the page I use the coordinates (GET request) to put them on the map. And now I'm trying to find a way to delete a marker when users press a button located in the marker leaflet bindPopup.

The main problem I have is when I put the code in the onclick part of the button to delete the marker, it doesn't take the environment variable and therefore not the marker so I can't even send a DELETE request without the id.

Note: bindPopup accepts HTMLElement
