How to do smooth scrolling in using javascript and css?

I want a way to do smooth scrolling of an html page. But i dont want to scroll to a particular div using the #id_name, i want to scroll to some particular point. For example i want to make a button which when pressed scrolls down the webpage smoothly by 250px. How to do this???

To scroll smoothly, you can use the `scroll-behavior CSS item.

This works on Chrome 61+, Edge 79+, Firefox 36+, Safari 14+, Opera 48+.

If you want a cross-browser solution, you can use jquery:

The first line is very important in order for you to get the smooth behaviour.

So just apply scroll-behavior: smooth; to the <html> tag.

You can now use window.scrollBy(x, y) method to scroll by your desired pixel value.
