Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error) - Web API hosted on IIS

Question

When I try to see data by using the Web API URL in the browser, in the console I see "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)"

Web API works on localhost(development database) but not when deployed to IIS(using production database). Localhost works even if i connect to production database. May i know what could be the problem. Thank you.

There could be lots of problems, Starting from IIS it self and ending on FireWalls, You should check

• if wherever the IIS is running that destination can access the DB port telnet test should clarify connection accessibility
• check if IIS has proper NTFS rights
• check IIS event logs
• check if web.config contains rewrite rule https://www.iis.net/downloads/microsoft/url-rewrite
