Java NullPointerException on onTouchListener

Question

I'm having some difficulties in building my first application on Android. I've follow the tutorial from Google to make an app with a drawer it works but when I want to put something else than a picture it crash my app.

My layout appears correctly on my AVD device but when I put an onTouchListener i get a Java NullPointerException . I suspect that it come from the fact that i don't use the good layout but I can't figure out why. Any idea ?

You initialize null to TxtResultat

TextView TxtResultat = null;

this below line give you null pointer exception because it intialize null

 TxtResultat.setText("TEST")

Add this line inside onCreate() :

TxtResultat = (textView) findViewById(R.id.**your textview's id**);

You just created a reference of the class TextView but not allocating it memory, this is why you were receiving the error of NullPointerException

Give a try to this:

    {
        TxtResultat.setText("TEST");
        return true;
    }
};

b1 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button1);
b1.setOnTouchListener(touchListenerBouton1);

Seems b1 is null or tourchListenerBouton is null. put a break point and initialize the one which is null.
