Android API 8 : Navigation Drawer - Menu - Fragment pattern

I created a new Android Studio project with a Navigation Drawer Activity Template. There are activty_main.xml, app_bar_main.xml, content_main.xml and a nav_header_main.xml in the layout-folder and a Java-Class MainActivity. I built a new Fragment with the name ExampleFragment (ExampleFragment.java and fragment_example.xml).

When an item in the Navigation Drawer is clicked, it should open a new fragment. If an item is clicked, nothing happens...

How will I do this if plan to support from API 8.

How to open a new Fragment?

You should use v4 Support Library and use the Fragment class included in the library. Also, you should call

getSupportFragmentManager()

instead of

getFragmentManager()

Also, if you want to have a container and adding or replacing different fragments inside, it's better to replace the fragment view with something like this
