How to check the Radio button validation using javascript in HTML form

I Need to validate a radio button input, ie when submit button is pressed and no radio buttons have been selected, it alerts the user saying 'please select option', and if a radio button has been selected then simply submit the form and pages redirect to another pages, needs no alert. But in my code, whenever I pressed submit button. It shows the 'please select option' even if all the radio button are selected. Please help.

The thing is you have done the checking weather the radio is selected or not only once and which is to be done for all the available radio buttons.
for (i = 0; i < radios.length; i++) {
    var radios = document.getElementsByName("yes no");
    var formValid = false;
}

Your main issue is you're not looping over the radio elements, the selector below won't find anything.

var radios = document.getElementsByName("yes no");

you'll want this to be an array of the radio elements:

var form = document.forms.formID;
var radios = form.elements;

then you can more or less run the code you already had.

without looking at the code and validation (and I agree with @mzulch) I was thinking about a slightly different approach. Given that there are 40 questions, you could try a funky approach to ensuring that all have been selected.

You could create an array (programtically find the number of questions and then create the array of numbers) leading to an array with all 40 numbers (note that arrays are zero indexed - meaning the first value may be "1" but it will be indexed as "0"). Then when a radio button is selected, trigger a function that removes that number from the array. When the submit button is pressed - if there are any numbers at all left in the array - you could then alert the user to the fact they have missed an option, and because the numbers relate to the questions, can tell the user specifically which option/s they need to revist.

just a slightly diferent approach but could be useful perhaps. Hope this helps, gavgrif

Did another way,

<script type="text/javascript">
function validateForm(daForm) {
    // check all rb radio buttons
    for (var i = 1; i <= 40; i++) {
        if (! getCheckedRadioValue(daForm["answer"+i])) {
            alert ("Please select a value for Question " + i)
            return false
        }
    }
    // add other checks here...
    return true
}
function getCheckedRadioValue(radio) {
    for (var i=0; i < radio.length; i++) {
        if (radio[i].checked) return radio[i].value
    }
    return false
}
</script>

Try replacing your function with this. You will also need to add the following CSS style that highlights the missed checkbox. I usually use jquery and return a class array, but this way you can specify number of questions. This also gives your user an indication as to which checkbox was missed. Also assumes your element names are in the format "answerxx"

<style>
.error {
        border: 2px solid red;
        padding:4px;
    }
</style>

<script>

    function validateForm() {
    var questions = 40 //Set the total number of questions
    var goodForm = true; //default is form is fine

    for(var i=1; i <= questions; i++)
    {
        //get array of checkboxes for each question by name
        radio = document.getElementsByName("answer" + i)

        //check whether there is at least one radio selected
        if(!(radio[0].checked||radio[1].checked))
            {
            //if not, add the .error class/style
            radio[0].previousElementSibling.classList.add("error");
            goodForm = false;
        }
        else
        {
            //remove the class if it is ok, need this if user submits again
            radio[0].previousElementSibling.classList.remove("error");
        }

    }
    //alert user on error, and return form validation status
    if(!goodForm) alert("Please check the options highlighted in red")
    return goodForm;

}
</script>

function asd(e) {
  var r = document.getElementsByName("container");
  for (var i = 0; i < r.length; i++) {
    if (r[i].checked) {
      alert(r[i].value);
      return;
    }
  }
  alert("ther ware som problem \n 1.you moust choose acup or cone");
  e.preventDefault()
}

window.onload = function() {
  document.getElementById("IceCreamForm").addEventListener("submit", function(e) {
    asd(e);
  });
}
