mailto: isn't working properly with any browser

I'm aware this exact question already exists however none of it's answers solved this problem.I have gone through and used each answers advice to zero effect.

Mailto: isn't working :

• Chrome : It's does nothing.It has the default finger cursor like all links and when clicked the cursor changes to the normal cursor.
• Firefox : When clicked it just opens up a blank web page. I have tried with this with multiple different emails and its simply not working.

Does anyone know the cause? Help would be greatly appreciated,thanks. Below is an example from mdn, the email doesn't work on MDN when clicked on for me either.

Most likely, your Web browser is not configured for what to do on mailto:

Firefox and mailto:..
