Spring boot application not starting on Tomcat

Question

I'm trying to start a Spring boot application in tomcat. When I click start, there's a fail message, and below is what I get in manager.log

This is my StartServer.class

I've already tried the clean command, package again to generate another.war and then deployed it again. But it didn't worked.

It Seems your spring boot app is trying to find the datasource, while deploying on tomcat. which is default behaviour.

you have two options,

either add the DATABASE you want

Solution

adding datasource depedency to the POM.xml (not necessary h2, you can add yours. below is h2 in memory database provided by spring boot )

<dependency>
   <groupId>com.h2database</groupId>
   <artifactId>h2</artifactId>
</dependency>

OR

In case you do not want database connectivity in your application at all.ask spring to not to look for a data base,

we can use the exclude attribute on our @SpringBootApplication or @EnableAutoConfiguration annotation

@SpringBootApplication(exclude={DataSourceAutoConfiguration.class})

I just had to remove the first dependency and now everything works perfectly.

Since my pom.xml had a lot other dependencies, I just add here the ones related to spring.
