Unable to go back through menu after navigation to fragment (with gif showing the problem)

I am using "Navigation Drawer Activity" template from latest Android Studio (2021.2.1 Patch 2) as a start.

With clicks on imageViews I was able to to programmatically navigate between fragments.

But after these successful navigations, click on "Home" item from menu does not work. ( Gif )

It is due to the associated multiple back stack with the element. We need to tie destination with the menuitems using NavigationUI.onNavDestinationSelected() . Please override onOptionsItemSelected functions in the main activity.
