Failed to compile the example of Win32 application from MSDN with GCC

I tried to compile the example of Win32 application from MSDN (at the bottom of the page) .

Compile command:

mingw32-gcc.exe -D_UNICODE -DUNICODE -DWIN32 -D_WINDOWS -O3 -c "WinMain.c" -o "WinMain.o"
mingw32-gcc.exe -D_UNICODE -DUNICODE -DWIN32 -D_WINDOWS -O3 -o "WinMain.exe" "WinMain.o"

Here is the error messages from the (TDM-)GCC :

// GT_HelloWorldWin32.cpp
// compile with: /D_UNICODE /DUNICODE /DWIN32 /D_WINDOWS /c

#include <windows.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <tchar.h>

// Global variables

// The main window class name.
static TCHAR szWindowClass[] = _T("win32app");

// The string that appears in the application's title bar.
static TCHAR szTitle[] = _T("Win32 Guided Tour Application");

How to solve this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

You have to pass the libraries to the linker. Visual Studio does this automatically but your call is missing these flags. You have to add something like -L/lib/w32api or -L/lib/Gdi32 . You have to figure that out by reading the documentation as I am not used programming Windows.

Have a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms645505(v=vs.85).aspx

The NULL should be something like MB_OK
