Can't view entity - data model for entity Framework

I have built a DbContext class for Entity Framework, whenever I try to use the EF powertools eg View Entity Data Model (Read Only) I get the following errors:

========== Build: 0 succeeded, 0 failed, 2 up-to-date, 0 skipped ==========

System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Data.Entity.Core.ProviderIncompatibleException: An error occurred while getting provider information from the database. This can be caused by Entity Framework using an incorrect connection string. Check the inner exceptions for details and ensure that the connection string is correct. ---> System.Data.Entity.Core.ProviderIncompatibleException: The provider did not return a ProviderManifestToken string. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 50 - Local Database Runtime error occurred. The specified LocalDB instance does not exist.

Any Ideas on How I can fix this?

As specified in Error, please check your connection string & make sure your server, database, User Id & password is correct & you are able to access database.

Also make sure SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.

The error message 'The specified LocalDB instance does not exist.'

  1. check your DB instance exists. How to connect to LocalDB in Visual Studio Server Explorer?
  2. check you connectionstring is what you intended.
  3. check if code is not referring to the connectionstring in project but the connection string in the app.
