How to show animated multiple markers from coordinates stored in MySQL database

I have question regarding using google maps with stored geolocations/coordinates in MySQL database.

Example of code:

<html>
<head>
<meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no"/>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/>
<title>TRACKING MARKERS</title>

<style>

body{height:50%; width:50%;margin:0px;font-family: Helvetica,Arial;}

This particular part of code is my problem:

 var startLoc = new Array();
  startLoc[0] = 'Berlin, Germany';
  startLoc[1] = 'Berlin, Germany';
  startLoc[2] = 'Berlin, Germany';
  startLoc[3] = 'Berlin, Germany';

  var endLoc = new Array();
  endLoc[0] = 'Zagreb, Croatia';
  endLoc[1] = 'Zagreb, Croatia';
  endLoc[2] = 'Zagreb, Croatia';
  endLoc[3] = 'Zagreb, Croatia';

Let's say that Loc0, loc1, loc2 and loc3 are parts of train composition - locomotive and 3 rail wagons; every of them have a tracking device which sends geoposition in database.

Can I and if I can - does someone have any idea how - use data from database instead of hardcoded gelocations in above example?

You may retreive these gelocation records from a database and put them into a json string with the help of a web script languge such as PHP, Jsp etc.

Then, your javascript fetch these data and use them (Ajax should be better)

Check the complete guide Using PHP/MySQL with Google Maps from the docs.

Outputting XML with PHP

First, you should put your database connection information in a separate file. This is generally a good idea whenever you're using PHP to access a database, as it keeps your confidential information in a file that you won't be tempted to share. In public forums, we've occasionally seen people accidentally publish their database connection information when they were just trying to debug their XML-outputting code. The file should look like this, but with your own database information filled in (phpsqlajax_dbinfo.php):

<?php
$username="username";
$password="password";
$database="username-databaseName";
?>

<?php
require("phpsqlajax_dbinfo.php");

// Start XML file, create parent node
$doc = domxml_new_doc("1.0");
$node = $doc->create_element("markers");
$parnode = $doc->append_child($node);

// Opens a connection to a MySQL server
$connection=mysql_connect ('localhost', $username, $password);
if (!$connection) {
  die('Not connected : ' . mysql_error());
}

// Set the active MySQL database
$db_selected = mysql_select_db($database, $connection);
if (!$db_selected) {
  die ('Can\'t use db : ' . mysql_error());
}

// Select all the rows in the markers table
$query = "SELECT * FROM markers WHERE 1";
$result = mysql_query($query);
if (!$result) {
  die('Invalid query: ' . mysql_error());
}

header("Content-type: text/xml");

// Iterate through the rows, adding XML nodes for each
while ($row = @mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){
  // ADD TO XML DOCUMENT NODE
  $node = $doc->create_element("marker");
  $newnode = $parnode->append_child($node);

  $newnode->set_attribute("name", $row['name']);
  $newnode->set_attribute("address", $row['address']);
  $newnode->set_attribute("lat", $row['lat']);
  $newnode->set_attribute("lng", $row['lng']);
  $newnode->set_attribute("type", $row['type']);
}

$xmlfile = $doc->dump_mem();
echo $xmlfile;

?>
