Python newbie here. I am just practicing extracting certain elements from XML files. I am going through this Datacamp tutorial , and am trying parse the "movies" XML file provided a the beginning of the tutorial.
It looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<collection>
<genre category="Action">
<decade years="1980s">
<movie favorite="True" title="Indiana Jones: The raiders of the lost Ark">
<format multiple="No">DVD</format>

<rating>PG</rating>
<description>

Covenant before the Nazis.'

I understand that I must add </collection>
at the end in order to parse the file. However, I am still thrown the error: xml.etree.ElementTree.ParseError: no element found: line 74, column 12
When running the code
import os
import pandas as pd
import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET
tree = ET.parse('movies.xml')
Is the last "genre" element closed incorrectly? I'm not sure why I am unable to parse the file. Any help is appreciated - thanks!
Unnecessary os change directory statement after importing packages and prior to parsing XML file.
Code that threw error:
import os
import pandas as pd
import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET
os.chdir('filepath')
tree = ET.parse('movies.xml')
root = tree.getroot()
Once os.chdir
statement was removed, it parsed with no error.
