Rpm Build: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.hI2V3W (%install)

I'm trying to "rpm-build -ba" a package (Pike) for Fedora Linux, and it's the first time I'm doing this procedure, but I keep getting this error:

"Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.hI2V3W (%install)"

As far as I can see, things start going badly after:

Could not resolve Getopt. (Perhaps the installed pike tree has been moved.)

Before you can compile a package with rpmbuild you must issue as root the command (that installs all the package dependencies for a given package that you want to build)

yum-builddep name-of-package-that-you-want-to-compile

ie

yum-builddep cheese

The yum-utils package contains the yum-builddep command, so if you haven't installed yum-utils, please install it before.

It seems anyway that you don't have all the dependencies available in the .spec file, so first of all try to issue as root the command

yum-builddep pike

and then, if the compilation with "rpmbuild -ba" does not succeed anyway, issue as root the command

yum install util-linux

The package util-linux that you are going to install contains the binary file /bin/getopt that allows the executables (even the ones in pike and even the ones called by rpmbuild) to parse the command line arguments.

Then you should be able to issue the "rpmbuild -ba pike" command without any problem.

The spec file must be wrong. It has a requirement ( getopt for some language) that is not properly defined with a %BuildRequires tag. yum (the only other answer at this time) assumes everything is fine as well, because that's the same tag it will use.
