Sending analog sensor values from an Arduino to an android application via ethernet

Question

I currently own an Arduino and Ethernet shield. I'm looking to record sensor values such as temperature and light which I currently record in the serial monitor and send them via the network using the ethernet shield to a bespoke application. How best can this be implemented?
