Export to and Upload from protected Excel spreadsheet

Question

I have an web application that needs to allow users to export some data as Excel spreadsheet. Most of the columns in the Excel should be locked down. Users should be able to edit the data in the 'unlocked' columns and upload the spreadsheet back to the application.

Any libraries out there does these?

Alternatively, I would like a 'edit in excel' feature which opens some data in excel and upload them on save, is it possible?
