Python - string split on + (plus) sign
Question
I have some DataFrame:
df = pd.DataFrame({'columnA': ['pizza_+_pasta', 'pizza_-_pasta', 'apple_+_bacon']})
Splitting on '_-_' works fine:
But splitting on _+_ does not (!):
What's going on?

df['columnA'].str.split(pat='_\+_', expand=True)
